Eddie Ross
Eddie Ross is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Maximalist Studios. A trained chef from the Culinary Institute of America, Eddie, brings more than 20 years of experience creating content across diverse media, industries and companies. He has worked as a producer and style editor for House Beautiful, Martha Stewart Living and Food Network. His design work has been published in Veranda, Vanity Fair and the New York Times. He has also appeared in home design television shows for Bravo, Disney and HGTV. When Eddie’s not art directing, you’ll find him digging for treasure, in his garden, pruning roses.
The intention of this design is to break the rules a bit. There is a lot of lovely melamine tableware for outdoor entertaining, but that’s just not my way. I want to eat off of beautiful plates and drink out of beautiful glasses while I’m indoors and while I’m outside. This space is an extension of the house and a mix of styles, from the faux bois table to the whimsical lobster centerpiece to the sophistication of the Richard Ginori place setting. Mixing optical swirl glasses with octagonal venetian water glasses and stainless and gold in the bamboo flatware. And adding in texture with the rattan hurricanes and the touch of leather on the napkin rings. It’s an eclectic mix of new and old.
What are you looking for when you go to Market?
“When I go to Market, I’m always looking for the new up-and-coming wholesaler. Someone who is doing something that’s outside of the box, somebody who is starting trends and not following them. I also look forward to running into many of my old colleagues and friends in the business who I’ve worked with for years. It’s like a giant family reunion."
